Foxwoods is not only the largest resort casino in North America. Think of it as more like a city within itself. You can spend several days at Foxwoods Resort Casino and not run out of entertainment and dining options. Foxwoods covers an area of 9,000,000 sq feet including 6 casinos and 250 gaming tables. If you don’t have a map, you can easily get lost inside. I decided to take a short walk to discover the different parts of the resort and ended up walking around for more than 2 hours.
Foxwoods Resort Casino is owned and operated by the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation – a federally recognized Indian tribe located in Southeastern Connecticut. The area is absolutely stunning with dense forests all around the resort.
The resort is located in Mashantucket, Connecticut, and is only a 2.5-hour drive from New York City or less than 2 hours from Boston. You can find more information on how to get to Foxwoods here.
Foxwoods Hotels
There are 4 different Foxwoods hotels that offer different styles of accommodations: The Grand Pequot Tower has 23 stories of deluxe rooms and suites, VUE 24 Restaurant, and the Norwich Spa. You can also enjoy 24-hour private butler service at one of the 23 uniquely designed Villas at Foxwoods.
If you prefer to be in the heart of the casino and right in the middle of all the action, then the Great Cedar Hotel is perfect. For more peace and relaxation, the Two Trees Inn is a country inn with a restaurant, bar, and heated indoor pool only a short complimentary shuttle ride away from the action. The Fox Tower has beautifully designed modern rooms and the famous G Spa.
Staying at Fox Tower Hotel at Foxwoods
I had the pleasure of staying in a Deluxe Room at the Fox Tower Hotel. The rooms have a modern design with the best part being the extraordinary view of the lush green forests around the resort. The large bed with premium linens was so comfortable that I didn’t want to get out of bed.
All rooms feature a flat-screen cable TV, an iPod docking station, complimentary toiletries, a coffee machine, free WiFi, a work desk, room service, and a private bathroom. For a more luxurious stay, some of the premium suites offer larger rooms with seating areas, bathtubs or jacuzzis.
Staying at the Fox Tower Hotel gives you access to different pools: the outdoor Fox Tower Pool or the indoor Great Cedar Hotel Pool. You can rent one of the 8 private cabanas at the Fox Tower Pool that are equipped with flat-screen TVs and outdoor/indoor seating areas. If you’re visiting in Summer, then the famous Liquid Sundays: Vegas-style pool parties every Sunday all Summer long.
I enjoyed the super easy and quick check-in/check-out process by using the VIP check-in service. Other facilities include: free valet parking, a business center, and luggage storage.

Foxwoods Restaurants
There is something for everyone at Foxwoods with over 35 dining options. You can choose to grab a quick bite or ice cream or enjoy an amazing fine dining experience at one of the premier restaurants. You can view all of the Foxwoods restaurant options here and filter them by price, type or cuisine.
My favorite spot as a steak and seafood lover was Cedars Steakhouse and Oyster Bar. The menu offers a great variety of premium steaks and fresh seafood.
I highly recommend trying the Oysters (you can ask your waiter for the daily specials) and the Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail. For steak lovers, the New York Sirloin is excellent as a main course. Don’t forget to finish off with a delicious dessert. I absolutely loved the tiramisu paired with a good cappuccino. You can also enjoy half-price bottles of wine on Sundays & Mondays.

The G Spa at Foxwoods is a must-visit during your stay. It’s the definition of pure relaxation and tranquility. The spa is adults only and you can purchase a day pass: $25 for hotel guests or $50 for day guests. They also have $99 specials for sunrise (7 AM & 8 AM) and sunset times (7 PM & 8 PM) where you will receive $31 off any 50-minute or 80-minute massage, facial, wrap or scrub.
