Serbia is a true European gem hidden in the beautiful Balkans. The country is so rich in history, culture and breathtaking nature and is still an off the beaten track destination with so much to offer. With so many direct flights available from all over Europe and the Middle East, Serbia is becoming more and more accessible for tourists.
If you’re planning to visit Serbia, Belgrade is an obvious first stop and is a very hip and funky city with cute cafes, bars, shops, lots of graffiti and some crazy nightlife. The locals are especially welcoming and they are so full of life, which explains why they love to party to the early hours of sunrise.
I love visiting the more adventurous locations, so I decided to head to the West of Serbia (Uzice, Uvac and Tara National Park) and I was so amazed by the untouched natural beauty of the area. I climbed up incredible mountains, took boat rides across rivers, swam in beautiful lakes with nothing but green forests surrounding me and had some laughs while drinking Rakija in a classic Kafana (Tavern).
For those traveling on a budget, you can have a feast for about $10 in most restaurants around the city or find great accommodation for about $30 and drink till you drop with drink prices being only a couple of dollars.
How does sleeping in a floating apartment sound? Or hiking up incredible mountains with endless views of rivers, lakes, and canyons? Or eating delicious specialties while listing to local musicians? Or meeting some amazing locals who are so happy to show you around their country? Or partying till sunrise on any day of the week?
